
Michael Wangen
has been a lighting designer in the Twin Cities area for almost 30 years
and in that time has worked at most theatres there including The
Guthrie, Children's Theatre Co., The Jungle, History Theatre, PIllsbury
House Theatre, Pangea World Theatre, Mixed Blood, and Penumbra Theatre.
He was resident designer with Penumbra from 1987-2000 where he designed
over 60 productions and currently serves that function at Pillsbury
House Theatre. He is also employed as the Lighting director for the
Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul where he lights over 100 music and dance
events per year including Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion."
He has enjoyed a
long and fruitful relationship with Carlyle Brown, lighting his
production of "The Fula From America" all over the country and serving
as part of the unique collaborative atmosphere at the center
of Carlyle's work. He also has extensive experience working with
acclaimed theatre artists Laurie Carlos, Daniel Alexander Jones, and
Marion McClinton.
